What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

The Holy Bible

We believe the Bible is divinely inspired and inerrant (2 Tim 3:16-17). It is a primary way that God has communicated His character and will to man. As such it is the final authority when it comes to belief.

God

We believe in one God who is One substance, revealed in Three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Isaiah 44:6ff; John 8:24 & 58, Acts 6). He is  Creator of all things and is all-powerful, all-knowing, ever present, and sovereign.

Jesus the Christ

We believe Jesus is fully God and fully man, God the Son, second person of the Trinity (John 8:24 & 58).
We believe He was virgin-born (Matthew 1:18) and without sin (Hebrews 4:15). He died on the cross for the sins of mankind, was raised bodily from the dead on the third day and is coming again at the end of the age, a time determined by the Father, to defeat all evil and establish his eternal kingdom on earth where all true believers shall abide with him for eternity (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, John 14:3, Revelation 19:11-21 & 21:1-4).

Mankind

We believe that Man is by nature a sinner from birth (Psalm 51:5),  condemned, deserving of eternal punishment in hell (Romans 6:23) and in desperate need of a Savior.

Salvation

We believe salvation is a free gift, bestowed by God's grace and received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9) in Jesus the Christ who paid the penalty for all who will believe (John 14:6, Romans 6:23).

Baptism

We believe immersion in water of the professed believer is Bible baptism (Acts 8:36-39). We believe it is essential in that it is commanded and therefore should be obeyed (Matthew 28:19-20). Baptism is not only symbolic of, but  participation with, Jesus in death, burial and resurrection (Romans 6:1-4).

Security in Christ

We believe a believer's salvation is secured by Christ alone (John 10:27-28), however it is possible for a believer to reject salvation (Hebrews 6:4-6, 2 Peter 2:20-22).

The Church

We believe the Church is the bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:25-33) and the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12).
We believe the purpose of the Church on earth is to fulfill the last command of Jesus (Matthew 28:18-20).
We believe the local church is governed by godly men known as elders/pastors (Titus 1:5).

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is a personality, and is God the Spirit, third person of the Trinity (Acts 5:1ff).
We believe the Holy Spirit is responsible for drawing men to Jesus (John 16:7-11).  Upon conversion He takes residence within the believer (John 14:15-18, Acts 2:38 & Ephesians 1:13-14) from where He guides and leads the believer throughout life (John 14:16).He also endows every believer with spiritual gifts to be used to serve the church (Ephesians 4:12).

Gender, Marriage and Sexuality

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God (Genesis 1:26-27).
We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Genesis 2:18-25). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Corinthians 6:18; 7:2-5; Hebrews 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.
We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, homosexual behavior, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest and use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matthew 15:18-20; 1 Corinthians 6:9-10).

Sanctity of Life

We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in his image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death. We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life.

Statement of Final Authority on Matters of Faith and Conduct

This  statement of core beliefs does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God, speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind. It is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Kingman Christian Church’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our pastoral team is KCC’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
